Business is booming following re-fit
A complete overhaul of a village store in Essex has led to sales soaring with an overall year-on-year increase of more than 15 per cent.
The Nisa Local Newport Stores in Essex, was re-fitted at the end of last year, and Nisa member and retailer Alan Carr, said he’s delighted with the finished result.
“The original store was quite dark because the ceilings were low and as you walked to the rear of the shop it was a bit of a cave. I asked Nisa to have a look at what they could do for me and between the Store Development Manager and the shop fitters Jordons, they have created an amazing finish.”
The 1,500sq. ft. store, which has been in the Carr family since the 1960s when it operated as an antique shop, was totally gutted. Ceilings were raised, modern lighting and cladding fitted, new chillers installed and wood effect flooring was laid down.
The look was achieved whilst the store remained open to customers, with just three days of complete closure needed to finish the work.
And the refurbishment is already paying for itself with early sales figures indicating fantastic success. Chilled sales are up 30 per cent since the completion of the re-fit in early November; National Lottery and Paypoint are up 20 per cent and year on year, overall sales for the store have increased by an impressive 16 per cent.
“I’ve had re-fits before but this time I went the whole hog,” explained Alan. “I took the whole range, I took on board all the advice Nisa gave me and left it to them and Jordons. I was blown away by the result. I can’t praise them enough. My store development manager and retail development manager knew exactly what to do to maximise the potential of the shop and the shopfitters really did a fantastic job.”
