Celebrating success at national awards ceremony

No fewer than five Nisa partners were on the shortlist for awards at the glitzy Retail Industry Awards ceremony held at London’s Grosvenor Hotel yesterday evening.

Nisa Retail was also shortlisted for Symbol Group of the Year and our Making A Difference Locally charity made it on the shortlist for Symbol Initiative of the Year – making the event highly anticipated for many.

And what a brilliant night it was with some fantastic and very deserving winners.

Dike and Son, long time Nisa partners, scooped two of the three awards they were shortlisted for, winning the award for Digital Engagement of the Year followed by the prestigious Independent Retailer of the Year (over 6,000 sq.ft).

Adam Dike and Andy Vincent were there to collect their awards and were thrilled to take them back to their store in Dorset.

Meanwhile Ronak Patel of Cherry Hinton Nisa Local in Cambridge won the National Lottery Retailer of the Year and Barry Patel was highly commended in the Most Improved Store of the Year category for Nisa Marsh Farm in Luton.

And to cap off a fantastic evening, Making a Difference Locally was crowned as Symbol Initiative of the Year – a fitting tribute to MADL which this year celebrates 10 years since it was first launched.

There was also success at the Local Shop Quality Food Awards, which was held immediately before the Retail Industry Awards and saw seven of Nisa’s Heritage own-label products on the shortlist.

There was fierce competition in every category with Nisa’s Heritage Smoked Salmon Fillets scooping an award in the chilled category along with highly commended bestowed upon three further products – Heritage Milk Chocolate, Heritage Carrot and Parsnip Mash and Heritage All Butter Scottish Shortbread Fingers.

Sales Director at Nisa, Steve Leach, said: “The Retail Industry Awards is a very prestigious event in the calendar and I am absolutely delighted to see some richly deserving Nisa partners being recognised. But the icing on the cake has got to be the award for MADL winning Symbol Initiative of the Year. It is a fantastic achievement for the charity in its 10th year and full credit goes to Kate Carroll and the MADL team for their hard work and dedication.”
