‘Hen’gaging day for Nisa members and suppliers

A group of Nisa retailers enjoyed an ‘egg’stremely worthwhile day at a special member and supplier engagement event hosted in Milton Keynes.

The members were invited to the home of Bird Bros Eggs, one of Nisa’s Central Invoice suppliers, to learn more about the process of egg supply from laying through to packing and distribution. The group of eight retailers enjoyed a factory tour where they saw the entire process and witnessed the attention to detail in the production of packaged eggs.

This was followed by a second supplier event with Heineken who presented the beers and cider category to the retailers, showing how they can assist members in growing sales in store with category advice and implementation. Arranged by Retail Development Manager Richard Whitehouse, the session was deemed a success for both members and suppliers offering a great opportunity for the sharing of insight and ideas.

Richard said: “Members were able to discuss the challenges they face with the beer and cider category and shared ideas with each other on best practice in growing sales across the category.

“These types of engagement events are a brilliant opportunity for our members to learn about different suppliers and get ideas from other retailers on how to improve sales in specific categories.”

Barry Patel, a Nisa member for 20 years, owns a 4,000 sq. ft. store in Luton. He said: “The event gave us the chance to engage with suppliers as well as other retailers. As a shop owner I rarely see the reps who visit my store as I am in and out all the time and so they deal with my store manager. Seeing them on a one-to-one basis allows me to build up a rapport.

“These events get me out of my box; talking to other retailers, learning from them and sharing with them my ideas.”
