Nisa Retail Limited Reports Rise in Recruitment
Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire – 7th August 2017: Nisa Retail, the specialist wholesaler and independent retail expert, today announced strong retailer recruitment growth for Quarter One of 2017/18.
- Total of 293 new stores recruited in quarter 1*
- 291% increase on the same time last year
- 233 stores NET
(*including 185 former Coop stores owned by MRG)
Nisa Retail is pleased to announce that not only did it beat quarter one recruitment targets in 2017/18, but that it also beat last year’s figures for the same period by 291%.
A total of 293 stores moved to the group in quarter one, and although 185 of these were part of the former Coop business MRG acquired the contract for which runs until 2020, 108 new stores not associated with that contract joined versus 75 in the previous year – a 45% increase y-o-y in itself.
The growth puts Nisa approximately £7m ahead of budget on its recruitment targets for the period and on track for hitting end of year targets for 2017/18.
The group previously reported record recruitment for 2016/17, boosted by significant new contract wins, and hinted at the positive momentum being taken into 2017/18 driven by a dedicated recruitment team and outstanding retailer offer.
The growth sees a NET store increase of 233, reflecting the confidence independent retailers still have in Nisa and highlighting the continued relevance of a model offering businesses’ flexibility and scale in an ultra-competitive marketplace.
Nick Read, CEO of Nisa Retail Limited, said: “I’m very pleased that we have been able to maintain the positive momentum built in the latter stages of 2016/17 and significantly grow our membership in the first quarter of 2017/18. The market is increasingly competitive and so it is reassuring to see that our business is still an attractive proposition for independent retail businesses. While it is disappointing that MRG has signed a supply deal with Morrisons, the fact that we saw a 45% year on year increase in new stores, irrespective of the former Coop stores, shows that we’re still geared for growth.”
Nisa supports approximately 1,400 local retailers and 3,000 stores across the UK. Some operate under the Nisa brand and others under their own names. Nisa supplies the stock they need and the retail support that helps them to grow their business.
