Range Control Racks Up Profits
A Nisa retailer is enjoying impressive profit boosts thanks to a little bit of help and advice from his retail support team. Concerned about flat sales and the impending opening of a new supermarket close to his Nisa store in Chingford, London, Jay Mandalia turned to his Retail Development Manager for inspiration and he hasn’t looked back.
Following expert advice and experience from the Nisa Retail Support Team, Jay saw a £2,000 rise in sales in just six weeks and an overall increase in gross profit of 2%.The retailer was encouraged to interrogate his sales by department data to find out just what was selling, and more importantly what wasn’t.
Jay said: “We had a really good look at our sales and it was clear people were coming in for impulse but we had flat sales in food to go and chilled and though availability was good our layout wasn’t great and we had to really work on our range. Our fresh offer was also lacking. We had everything instore but our display was not good enough.” Jay and his RDM analysed all his ranges and looked at layout and the grouping of items. “We moved products around to make the store flow better and to increase sales. A key aspect of this exercise was to increase traffic flow towards our fresh and chilled,” he said.
Together with the Fresh Food Development manager, they completed a radical overhaul of the chilled and fresh section and using the expertise on offer, Jay has created a brand new look for his store seeing a £2,000 rise in sales in just six weeks. Jay said: “You just can’t put a value on the advice I was given. Who wouldn’t want to see their turnover grow? Now we’ve seen what works we’re looking at what to do next. It’s an exciting time.”
