The Nisa Symbol Group has been awarded the Symbol/Fascia Group of the Year at the prestigious Retail Industry Awards at London’s Westminster Park Plaza hotel on Thursday 22nd September 2011.
Headed by director John Heagney, the Nisa Symbol Group has developed in the past year introducing for the first time television advertising, a national training programme for employees of members’ stores, along with Underage Test Purchasing audits. The Group has over 800 stores in its membership with over 590 sporting the Store of the Future fascia.
The awards celebrate the sectors leading grocery retailers and along with the Symbol Group winning an award, its members were also winners on the evening. Kishor Patel’s Nisa Local in Hemel Hempstead won Most Improved Store of the Year with his store manager of the Nisa Local in Toddington being awarded highly commended in the Store Manager of the Year category. Scottish-based retailer David Sands was awarded Regional Convenience Retail Chain of the Year with North East Convenience Stores being awarded highly commended in the category. Forecourt Retailer of the Year was awarded to the Brookfield Group which has seven forecourt stores across Yorkshire and Lancashire.
